Scotland 2019 Week 1

My record of week 1 of two weeks I spent in Scotland this year. Week 1 was in the company of
my old Venture Scouts pals from the 60's/70's, who you my know try to get together for a Spring and Autumn long weekend away camping and walking along with a Summer holiday known as the "hardship tour".  This year being in Scotland it was known as the "Mc Hardship Tour"
The following set covers our crossing from our overnight stop on the mainland to
the Isle of Arron a quick traverse a second ferry and on to out base for the week
"Harbour Vista" Tarbert.

The next day in my Blip Journal I called "A Two Castle Day"
Walking from our base down in to Tarbert and up to its castle, the group less Rod
and myself set of on the Kintyre Trail to Skipness. Rod and I returned to base for the
cars to recover the walkers from Skipness. We had time for some sightseeing at and
around Skipness and its Castle.

Next day we drove Crinan, were most took on the Crinan Wood Walk.
Afterwards a break taken at the Canal end we then went on to Kilmartin.
Kilmartin is a huge Valley full of standing stones and tumuli which I
have photographed before so the selection is small but does include the
exhuming of an early 60's Venture Scout or a "Mole in a Hole'!😎😎😎

A spectacular day in Kintyre started with the low tide walk across to the
Island of Davaar and its cave paintings. From there we went to Southend and on
to the cave, footprint and well at the site of St Columba's landing from Ireland.
Next stop was to a point above the Lighthouse at the Mull of Kintyre.

"Mole in another hole"

Today we visited the Taynish National Nature Reserve and its Art installations.
Then on to the Keills and its historic Church which had just had all its
Ironwork heavily dorbbed with paint that made entry interesting!

A visit to the Island of Gigha filled today! And certainly would stand a return visit!

The final day was one of short walks and local visits as the men prepared to head home
and I would move to Ardishaig for a further weeks photography.
It was a fabulous time thanks one and all for making it so!
